Virginia political mail rules for 2027. Every House and Senate seat is on the ballot.
On 2 November 2027 Virginia elects all 100 members of the House of Delegates and all 40 state senators, after primaries on 15 June. Every mailer in those races has to carry Virginia's disclosure wording, and party or group sample ballots carry extra rules of their own. This guide sets them out with links to the Code of Virginia.

- Disclosure
- Print ads by candidates must say "Paid for by" followed by the candidate's or committee's name as it appears on the statement of organization, shown conspicuously in a size proportionate to the ad. Va. Code §24.2-956
- Unofficial sample ballots
- Must not be printed on white paper, must show the words "sample ballot" in type no smaller than 24 point, and count as advertisements, so the disclosure rules apply too. Va. Code §24.2-622
- Voter lists
- Lists go only to candidates, party committees, qualifying PACs, officeholders and voter-participation nonprofits, for political purposes only, and may not be furnished to anyone else. Va. Code §24.2-405
Four rules for a Virginia campaign mailer.
The paid-for-by line
"Paid for by" plus the exact registered name of the candidate or committee. "Authorized by" can stand in only when the ad supports the sponsoring candidate and names no other clearly identified candidate.
Other candidates named
If the ad mentions another clearly identified candidate, it must also say whether that candidate authorized it. Joint sponsors must all be named.
Sample-ballot pieces
Coloured paper, never white, with "sample ballot" in at least 24-point type. A sample ballot is still an advertisement, so it carries the paid-for-by line too.
Electronic versions
When a print ad is shown electronically, the disclosure must be at least 7-point type, or link to a landing page that shows it if 7 point will not fit.

The tap shows the same line
The result page repeats the paid-for-by wording printed on the piece, word for word, beside the committee's registered name.
Built for sample-ballot season
Virginia has seen look-alike sample ballots at polling places. A party's own sample ballot with a chip can be told apart from a copy with a tap.
Voter lists stay political
Aeroz never receives or matches voter lists. Tap data is counts by area, which keeps a campaign's §24.2-405 list inside the campaign.

What disclaimer does a Virginia campaign mailer need?
"Paid for by" followed by the candidate's or campaign committee's name as it appears on its statement of organization, shown conspicuously in a size proportionate to the ad (Va. Code §24.2-956).
What are Virginia's rules for unofficial sample ballots?
They must not be printed on white paper, must show "sample ballot" in type no smaller than 24 point, and are treated as advertisements, so the disclosure rules apply (Va. Code §24.2-622).
When are Virginia's 2027 elections?
Primaries on 15 June 2027 and the general election on 2 November 2027, with all 100 House of Delegates seats and all 40 Senate seats on the ballot.
Can a campaign share Virginia's voter list with a vendor?
Va. Code §24.2-405 says the lists are to be furnished to no one else and used for political purposes only. Ask counsel before sharing list data with any vendor; Aeroz does not need it.
