Six million smallholders. One proof standard.
EUDR for rubber means that natural rubber and listed rubber products, tyres included, placed on the EU market or exported must be deforestation-free, legally produced and covered by a due diligence statement.
Natural rubber is an EUDR commodity, and the scope reaches finished products — tyres included. Roughly 85% of the world's natural rubber comes from smallholders, collected through dealers who blend plots at the first transaction. From 30 December 2026 (large and medium operators), every rubber product placed on the EU market needs a due-diligence statement tracing back to deforestation-free plots. The chain that must carry the proof is the most fragmented in any covered commodity.
EUDR for rubber, in three facts.
Reg. (EU) 2023/1115 · rubber and rubber products including tyres in scope · large and medium operators from 30 Dec 2026 · cut-off 31 Dec 2020.
The EU Deforestation Regulation applies from 30 December 2026 to large and medium operators and traders and from 30 June 2027 to micro and small enterprises.

The obligations, tap to tyre.
Geolocation of producing plots
Coordinates for every plot that produced the latex or cup lump in a consignment — through dealer aggregation, processing and compounding.
Finished products in scope
Tyres, tubes, belts and other rubber goods carry the obligation into the EU — the importer of the tyre answers for the plantation plot.
Due-diligence statement
A DDS in the EU information system per consignment, with the geolocation and legality evidence assembled before the product ships.
Downstream reliance rules
Downstream operators can reference upstream DDS numbers but retain responsibility for verifying due diligence was properly done — reliance is not delegation.
The timeline, as it stands.
Large and medium operators come into scope on 30 December 2026; micro and small enterprises follow on 30 June 2027. Tyre makers are moving early because a tyre shipped in 2027 contains rubber tapped months before.
Three moves that de-risk the deadline.
Trace one tyre backwards
Take a current SKU and try to name the plots behind its natural rubber. The distance between what you can prove and plot-level polygons is the project.
Instrument the dealer layer
Plot identity dies at the first dealer blend. Capture identity at the farm-gate transaction and the rest of the chain can carry it.
Make the DDS a data export
Weekly consignments need statements assembled from live custody data, not quarterly spreadsheet hunts.
Identity from the first transaction.
Aeroz binds identity to physical rubber at the farm-gate or collection transaction and appends every custody change to an EPCIS 2.0 log, plot geolocation attached at origin. By the time the consignment reaches a compounder, the DDS evidence exists as structured data — and the same log serves customer audits and CSDDD reporting.
EUDR for rubber, answered.
Are tyres really covered by EUDR?
Yes — natural rubber and listed rubber products including tyres are in scope. The operator placing the tyre on the EU market must file or reference due diligence tracing to producing plots.
How can smallholder rubber be traced to plots?
By capturing identity at the first transaction — farm gate or collection point — with plot coordinates attached, and preserving it through dealer aggregation as data rather than paperwork.
Does synthetic rubber count?
No — EUDR covers natural rubber. Blended products carry the obligation for their natural-rubber content, which still requires knowing which molecules came from where.
What happens on non-compliance?
Penalties include maximum fines of at least 4% of EU-wide turnover, confiscation of products and revenues, and exclusion from public procurement — plus consignments held at the border.
